The main objectives of Bioredox are:

  • To analyze the processes of oxidative stress conditions in the human organism, which are related to a shift of the normal redox balance towards a pathophysiological oxidative state.
Such processes occur in diseases like cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, stroke, infarct, acute and chronic inflammation, neurodegenerative disease (e.g. Alzheimer), AIDS, ALS, Diabetes but also in ageing.
  • To develop analytical and diagnostic testsystems for the investigation of processes and cell and tissue damage related to oxidative stress.
  • To pinpoint the critical redox parameters of these pathophysiological conditions.
  • To develop and test drug screening systems and models for pathophysiological redox conditions and related diseases.
  • To develop therapeutical strategies for restoration of the disturbed equilibrium.
